Older and Bolder

Yesterday I tacked another year onto my age and am now a happy 23! There was little fanfare, just plenty of friends, laughter and, of course, mimosas. The celebration began Saturday night in the Eastern Market area at Lola’s, followed by Molly Malone’s -the first usually a low-key, but very fun, bar, and the second a fun place with a much more raucous crowd. For some reason, both were pretty dead when we went, but my friends and I still had a blast hanging with each other. For my actual birthday, we all gathered for a boozy birthday brunch at El Centro D.F. on U St which was absolutely amazing. I had previously only been to the Georgetown location and have to say that I much prefer U St. The staff was great, and very attentive. As soon as the hostess found out it was my birthday when we walked in, she asked if I wanted to be moved to the rooftop which I readily agreed to. Our table opted for the $35 all you can eat (from the brunch menu) and drink (mimosas, bloody mary’s, bloody marias, micheladas, and spiked seasonal agua frescas) and had an absolute blast. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy a slow afternoon drinking and chatting with friends; and I for one cannot wait for some warmer weather where we can truly enjoy all the rooftop has to offer. Lastly,I don’t know who the DJ was, but the music choice was perfect for the overall ambiance, not too quiet or loud; in fact I found myself moving along to it on more than one occasion. Since the sun was actually out, (shock) I decided to wear a colorful and fun Spring inspired outfit. All in all, an excellently spent birthday, so here’s to another happy year!
