I know, I know, it’s been quite a while since I made a post,BUT since my last post, I moved to China! For the next year of my life, I’ll be living in a city called Ningbo teaching English to adorable Chinese children. Life before I left was a little hectic, as you can imagine, which is partially why my posts have been non-existent, but hopefully that will change. This past week was a national holiday in China, which celebrates the country’s founding, so I’ve been on vacation in Hong Kong. It has been an amazing experience -this place is absolutely beautiful, the people are so friendly and there is a multitude of things to do! Whether it’s shopping, sightseeing, hiking, or laying on the beach, there is no shortage of activities to participate in. I’ll be posting pictures of my trip later on in the week, but I thought my first post back should be an outfit post. This skirt is probably one of my most prized possessions, I bought it from a site called Chicwish that is actually based in Honk Kong and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Because it’s such an effortlessly chic statement piece, I usually pair it with very simple pieces -both for the top, and my jewelry choices. Hope you all like it!
One of the best things about following fellow bloggers is it allows you to discover things you may otherwise have never known existed -from new blogs to new stores or brands. I somewhat recently discovered Chic Wish through one of my biggest style crushes DC blogger Lacey and immediately fell in love with myriad pieces, but none more so than this fabulous midi skirt. I feel like there is something very Carrie Bradshaw about this skirt, maybe it’s the drama of both the volume and the pattern, but whatever it is, I love it. I received so many compliments, both from coworkers and total strangers -even from men, and not in a creepy way! Because of the skirt’s flair, I decided to pair it with a simple black t-shirt so all attention would primarily be focused on the skirt. I wanted to wear heels, but my feet were killing me, so I had to settle for flats, but I will certainly be rocking this skirt again. And for those of you who are apprehensive about ordering from Chic Wish, I could not recommend it enough, I absolutely adore my purchase!
I have a feeling that I will be wearing this skirt on repeat for the remainder of summer, if not my life (see previous look here). It’s not only super comfortable, but also effortlessly chic, and I’m all about those two -especially during my weekends. Happy Monday!

I know I’ve been posting sporadically for the past few weeks, but with summer around the corner life has just gotten so much busier! Barbecues, rooftop happy hours, all day pool sessions, hikes, brunches, and so much more but I am determined to work blogging into my schedule. With that, let’s move on to my outfit -I already know I am going to be a repeat offender when it comes to this skirt. I had been searching for the perfect midi skirt for quite a while and am just enamored with this Asos number. The lavender color is great for Spring, Summer, and even Fall, and the sheer panel adds some sex appeal, but the skirt is still classy. I wanted a fun outfit for work, so I thought I would play with volume and pair the skirt with this peplum top and I couldn’t be happier with the resulting look. What do you all think, a good balance or over the top?
Let me start off by saying that Memorial Day weekend is one of the best sales weekend of the year. With that being said, I can hardly be faulted for having gone a weeeeeeeeeee bit over my set budget for the month after being hounded by stores parading their slashed prices. MY self control was just not strong enough to withstand these and I gave in (over and over again) BUT I did come out of it with some pretty great finds which I have shared above. And I have put myself on a shopping moratorium for all of June, so hopefully I’ll be able to stick with that. What about you guys? How did you weather the Memorial Day sales? And how do you deal with great sales on one hand and sticking to your budget on the other? Clearly, any tips would be more than welcome since I need all the help I can get. Happy Monday everyone!
